Brigadeiro recipe

Hi everyone!

Thank you for visiting my baking blog. Here is the recipe

Here's what you will need:

  •  4 tablespoons of Nestle chocolate or strawberry milk powder mix
  •  1 can of sweetened condensed milk (your choice of brand)
  •  1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  •  Your choice of sprinkles

  Cooking Instructions:
  • put roughly 2 tablespoons of butter to melt in the pan
  • set the stove top to medium-low
  • once the butter is melted, add a whole can of condensed milk
  • now you will add the chocolate;
  • stir with the wooden spoon; you will need to stir for at least 10 -15  minutes and it can take as long as 25 minutes; stir in circular movements and make sure you get the Brigadeiro from the sides so it does not stick there and burn
  • the Brigadeiro will get thicker and thicker and will reduce in volume
  • you know it is ready when a) you divide it in half with the spoon and it stays parted for a few seconds) scoop some brigadeiro with the wooden spoon, turn the spoon upside down, and it holds there for an instant before falling back into the pan;
  • when your Brigadeiro is ready, spread the content of the pan on a plate and put it in the fridge for about 30 minutes to an hour; you want it nice and firm before you roll it in balls
  • to make the little balls, spread a little bit of butter in your hands and make sure to get your fingers; using a small spoon, scoop some Brigadeiro, put it in your hands, and roll it in a little ball
  • roll the ball on the chocolate sprinkles to cover it completely
  • place your brigadeiro in a banking cup
  • repeat--should yield about 25 Brigadeiros
  • put Brigadeiros in the fridge for about 15-30 minutes to make them firmer

Bakerella book signing & giveaway

Hi everyone.... it's been so long I posted anything on my baking website. That's because I been a little busier with my stamp line and crafting things. Anyways... this past week we had a hurricane disaster here in NJ and we had no power for over 1 week. Bakerella book signing in NJ was cancelled due to the power outage. With that said, I been wanting to meet her for over two years and I didn't want to miss that chance. So I drove to PA about 1 hour and 45 minutes. With all the excitement and joy of meeting Bakerella,  the ride was not so bad. I needed some off from all the chaos.

Here are some pictures of the book signing.

King of Prussia mall. It is HUGE!!

I have never been to a book signing so I didn't know what to expect. I thought it was going to be a quick sign and NEXT.  But not Bakerella, she make sure she chatted a little bit with each individual person.

As I sat down, I intrude myself, Hi I'm Catarina from NJ. Right away she knew who I was. Its so wonderful to know that she takes time to know each fan individually. We had a great chat and she made sure that this moment was going to be remembered.  I always admired her, she is always smiling and always friendly.

Here she is signing both books :0) We also signed her book. How thoughtful of her.  As I walked out of the store I also meet Kim and her family with KC Bakes. They have the best cakepops stands out there. I'm yet to try it but I hear great feedback. Be sure to check out Kim's blog here, she also has a giveaway on her blog.

After the book signing.  Bakerella did a little intro on her cakepops with most of the supplies she used for the new book.  It was super fun, I made sure that I stook around. It's not like I have Bakerella to hang out with all the time, so why not.

After all the questions being answered, she took a few more pictures with everyone.

Did I bored you yet?? Sorry for the long post. But this was a very exciting day for me.

Now, how about some fun for you?  Today I'm giving one of Bakerella book has a giveaway. This is for the one that didn't make it to her book signing.

Here's what you will need to make your own:

1 quart widemouth Ball jar (I found mine at walmart)
1 1/3 cup all purpose flour, spooned into measuring cup & leveled
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup cooking oats
3/4 cup butterscotch marsels
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup white sugar
Stir all the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
Add
1 slightly beaten egg
1/2 cup butter (melted slightly in the microwave)
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Use the back of a large spoon to work it all together.
Then roll the cookie dough into 1 1/2 inch balls, place on a parchment covered baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes in a preheated 350 degree oven.  You should be able to make about 26-28 cookies out of these. yumm enjoy!
